We celebrated Eden’s first Birthday this weekend with family and friends and I wanted to share some details from her perfectly pink swan party! I purchased this welcome sign and milestone board as a digital file from a shop on Etsy called Lucky Plum Studio. I then had the files printed on foam board from Vista Print and shipped to my house.
The gold glitter “Happy Birthday Eden” was originally a cake topper, but I used it in my flowers as an accent. It was sponsored by Mika’s Party Shop which you can also find on Etsy. I decide to do most of the baking for the party since I wanted a lot of baked goods, but also wanted to stay on a budget. For Eden’s cake I just used a fun-fetti cake mix, garnished with a silk flower, & topped with this acrylic gold mirror topper from Shop Tineke on Etsy.
I also baked these pink champagne cupcakes with this recipe I found on Pinterest. I baked the cupcakes two days before the party and stored in an airtight container. The day before the party I made the buttercream frosting from the recipe and frosted the cupcakes and sprinkled them with pink non pareils.
I also baked these swan sugar cookies which were a little challenging due to the swans having a thin neck but turned out super cute and delicious. I purchased the swan cookie cutter from Amazon and used this recipe I found on Pinterest from the blog “It’s Always Autumn”. I used Wilton’s royal icing I purchased from the baking section at Michael’s (you need this kind of frosting so it can dry hard so you’re able to decorate them). I purchased these white and gold sprinkles from Michael’s also and added them to the cookies when the icing was still wet so they dried and stuck to the cookies. Once completely dried I used a black food marker for the eyes and pink pearl dust for the beaks.
I wanted to display Eden’s monthly photos at her party so everyone could see how much she grew in the first year! I purchased this picture frame for my wedding at Hobby Lobby and used gold spray paint. I’m so glad I was able to reuse it again for her party. I then use this beautiful pink and gold glitter number garland from Mika’s Party Shop. This banner has mini clothes pinks on the bottom of the numbers which makes it so easy to clip the photos to. I then tapped them to the back of the frame.
For the centerpieces I purchased pink roses, carnations, spray roses, and snapdragons, along with ivory roses. I used these white feather I bought from eBay and used spray adhesive to add fine gold glitter. Then I used another topper from Mika’s Party Shop for an accent. I purchased the ceramic swan vases from eBay for more table decor. The pink table cloth and rose gold runner I purchased online from CV Linens I reused from my baby shower.
For Eden’s high chair I used the Antilop high chair from Ikea and spray painted the legs gold. I added this gold name sticker I got from MM Vinyl Creations on Etsy. I used a white boa and made a swan garland with a pattern I bought on Etsy from Maisie Moo NZ. I used pink, white, black, and gold glitter felt, along with pink wool balls. The lanterns were also from my wedding purchased 3 years ago from HomeGoods.
I am so thankful my dad is such a handyman because I showed him a picture of a donut wall from Pinterest and he built it for me. We purchased the supplies from Lowe’s. We used a big piece of ply wood and I spray painted it pink. He then made a grid on the back and drilled a tiny hole so I could show up on the opposite side. He then used Gorilla Glue and glued dowels (cut 3 inches) over the holes so the donuts lined up perfectly. We then sat the donut wall on an eisel so our guests could take them as they pleased.
Mitch and I put together this balloon garland I purchased from One Stylish Party on Etsy. It was surprisingly super easy to put together and took about an hour total. We used a clear balloon strip that had holes, and alternated the direction we stuck the balloons in. We then hung the garland on an arch in the backyard. I garnished with silk flowers but the garland was directly in the sun so they kept falling off. The garland is 6 days old and still going strong! When you purchase this package it comes with the balloons, pump, balloon strip, and instructions so it is super convenient. Eden loved her cake and wouldn’t wait until the picture was done to have a taste. Her pink and gold glitter “ONE” bib was from HB Southern Inspired from Etsy.
So here’s a funny story from the party: Mitch and I have a friend who the second we told him about Eden’s Birthday party said he was buying her a bunny. He’s the type of guy who jokes about everything so you can’t tell if he’s serious or not. Needless to say, he was serious. He showed up with not just one, but TWO bunnies for Eden. They were super cute and all the kids at the party loved them, but we weren’t able to keep them (I am not flying back to Boston with a baby and two bunnies lol). So thank you, Loren Henderson for the laughs and cute bunnies, I can’t wait for your sons Birthday now 😉
That is all from Eden’s first Birthday Party. It was a lot of work, but everything turned out so perfect. We had the best time celebrating our little girl, & now it’s time to start planning for her second Birthday!
